Color Treated

When hair color is a desired option - make it happen!  Once you've acheived your luscious locks, take the steps to keep them this way.  One of the best ways to maintain hair color is to use shampoo, conditioner and treatments designed for color treated hair.   Sulfate free shampoos help in eliminating color stripping.  Here are some helpful products to assist in keeping healthy hair.

To Color or Not to Color

With Summer comes the desire to lighten and brighten.  Many of us want to try new and exciting colors, but may feel a little apprehensive about taking the leap.  Here are some tips of Do's and Don'ts when it comes to color.

Don't try this at home.  Make an appointment with your stylist or have he/she to recommend someone that specializes in heavenly hues!  When trying color for the first time, it's best to leave it to the specialist - that's what they're trained to do.

Do try it in steps.  If you can't or won't make a full commitment to an all over color, try highlights.  This is a sure way to test the waters to see if the color works for you with a glimmer of shimmer.

Don't be afraid to try color with hair pieces, wigs, or extensions.

Do get the right shade for your skin tone and personality.  Just because it looks good on the girl in the magazine doesn't mean it will be fitting for you.  This is where a stylist/colorist works out well.

Choosing the Perfect Foundation

Foundations come in a variety of textures, coverage, and price range.  One of the most important things to do when choosing a foundation is to consider what works best for your budget.  This is the product that you may want to splurge on.

Textures

Creams/Sticks/Pancake- This type of foundation will usually be a bit thicker and creamier in consistency.  Your results: Usually medium to full, buildable coverage.  Can be sheered down with water or a moisturizer.

Liquid-  Lighter in weight,  breathable and great for those hot summer days.  Your results: Can give the barely there effect.  Some formulas can go from sheer to full coverage.

Cream to Powder/Powder-  This texture is for those who want to do it all in one step.  Your results:  Can create a matte finish and sometimes a powdery finish.

When choosing a foundation color, you will want to choose a color that is close to your natural shade closer to your neck and jawbone area.  Make certain that you blend the shade where it looks natural.  Manufacturers and certain brands that carry a variety of hues across the spectrum that you can try are Becca, Bobbi Brown, Makeup Forever and Yves Saint Laurent to name a few.

Summer Makeup

In the warm hazy days of summer, skin needs to breathe, and glow.  The best way to allow your skin to enjoy the benefits of the sun, are to prepare it in every way possible.  That Summer glow should be simple and clean.

-Change your moisturizer from the heavy winter norm to a lightweight one
-Make sure that your moisturizer includes SPF to protect from harsh rays
-Sheer down normal foundations with your moisturizer, creating your own tinted moisturizer
-Use Bronzers
-Add color to lips, cheeks and eyes with one product
